Ok if you don't know how to log into your router then please find out. Go to the user manual and find out how, because if you have a router you will have to log into it.

In your router setup (each one is different, so these directions might not be exact, but they should be close) it might be under advanced settings. Look for an entry that says "Port Forwarding". Under this entry is the place you specify which ports (besides web access and email) can get in and out. The ports you want to specify are the ones you entered during the server setup.

$Server::Port = "28001";
$telnetport="";

Only forward the telnetport if you want other people in your tribe using ezconsole. If your router asks you to choose between udp or tcp you want the following:

$Server::Port = "28001"; - you want "UDP"

$telnetport=""; - you want "TCP"

There should also be a place to enter the ip address of the server (the machine you want to forward these ports too). If you need help in finding your ip address then read "finding your ip address" later in this test file.

After all this information is filled in you want to click save&restart or apply or whatever your router says to save this information to the router.

now after all that your server should be up and running and if it is a good server on a good connection you should have people logging into. Have fun and enjoy.

FINDING YOUR IP ADDRESS:

Local Network Address

under windows 95 click start, then run, in the box that comes up type winipcfg and hit enter. Choose your network card from the drop down box and the ip address should be displayed.

Under windows 98 and ME (Mistake Edition) click on start, then run, then type command in the box that comes up. That should open a dos window with a command prompt (c:\). At that prompt type ipconfig and hit enter. That should display your ip address.

under windows NT, 2000, XP click start, then run, then type cmd in the box that comes up. This should open a dos window with a command prompt (c:\ or similar) At the prompt type in ipconfig and hit enter. This will give you your ip address.

If you want to find the outside address of your network, meaning the other side of your router go to www.ipchicken.com and it will give you that address, this is the address that the world see.
